May always seems to be such a crazy and exciting time around here. Graduations, Mother’s Day, my oldest child’s birthday, school is ending and spring activities are wrapping up. Plus we’re already focused on finding fun and entertaining things to do in and around Wichita this summer.

If you need something to on Mother’s Day this year, it’s the perfect time to explore Botanica with spring perennials in bloom and the best part is that admission on Mother’s Day is free for everyone! The Sedgwick County Zoo also offers a Mother’s Day deal where all moms are admitted free when accompanied by a paying child. In this month’s issue we’re printing our THIRD-ANNUAL Cheap Eats list! This super-popular list is a compilation of area restaurants that offer free or discounted meals for kids. It’s defi nitely a list you want to keep posted on your fridge or even in your car, you’ll get a ton of use out of it!

Wichita Family Magazine is also excited to be involved in the First- Annual f.i.t. family 5K. The event, hosted by Mommy Movement Fitness, will be held at the Waterfront on Sunday, May 15 at 3 p.m. There is a 5K run and a ½ mile free kids run. Check out the advertisement in this month’s magazine for details on how and where to register. In addition to being a fun afternoon event for families, this race benefi ts a local family as well as the YWCA.
